Jumpstyle Jumpstyle
The term Jump is used both for a musical genre (a subgenre of Dance, recognized by its hard & deep bass) and for a dance style usually danced on this kind of music. In the early days of jump people saw it as a slow variant of Hardcore, but it quickly became a hype. Jump originated from Oldschool and Hardcore in the early 90s Back then tracks were already made which could be called Jump (such as Speedy J - Pullover), but a new subgenre wasnt there yet. This probably happened in the late 90s when Da Boy Tommy & Da Rick made the Top 10 hitReady to rumbl. Around 2003 Jump slowly started getting popular in The Netherlands. Due to the associated genre Hardstyle being popular at that time, they called it Jumpstyle. The first few years of the hype Jump was only known in the Low countries (Belgium & The Netherlands) but later the Jump fever spread to France and Germany. Jumpstyle is used to describe both the music and the dance, most countries use Jumpstyle as an indication for this instead of Jump. At this moment Jump is starting to get a wider popularity, which leads to some people claiming it to be dead soon. The more recent Jump tracks are around 140-145 BPM. Because of the hype and the popularity of the dance moves associated with Jumpstyle, as of 2007 a lot of music is being labeled as Jump even though it is hardly related to the original genre.
